Preserving the past of Marshall County for future generations since 1908

Due to CDC and governmental recommendations, we are closed to visitors at this time. Though museums and historic sites are free to re-open in Iowa, we are unable to sanitize our collections and sites without damage and will be closed to the general public until further notice. In keeping with our mission to preserve our local history, we feel this is the best decision for the safety of both our collections and patrons.

We are still available for inquiries, research requests, and donations.

Please call 641-752-6664 for more information.

Thank you for your continued support!

Thank you for visiting the Historical Society of Marshall County website! We preserve and manage four historical properties: the Glick-Sower Historical Homestead, Taylor #4 Country School, and the Mowry Irvine Mansion. We invite you to visit and let us share our sites, collection, and library. We look forward to sharing our knowledge of Marshall County history and helping with historical and genealogical research.

We are open to the public both during regular hours at the Mowry Irvine Mansion & Frances Rhoades Williams Research Library, 503 West Main Street, Marshalltown, IA Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.,  and other times by appointment.

The Mowry Irvine Mansion is also available for private events.
