Preserving the past of Marshall County for future generations since 1908

Our organization has been enriching the lives of Marshall County residents and visitors in countless ways since 1908. Our efforts include:

  • Preserving and protecting artifacts for future generations.
  • Tours of our sites are available during regular business hours and other times by appointment.
  • We offer free History on Third Thursday programs on a variety of historical topics, given by both local presenters and Humanities Iowa speakers.
  • We provide speakers for other community organization events.
  • The Mowry Irvine Mansion is available to the public for private meetings and catered events.

Our former Historical Museum building has been sold. We are in the process of re-imagining a facility to showcase our extensive collection of artifacts. We;re not sure where it will be located, or when we'll be able to move forward, but are excited at the prospect of a much more visitor-friendly museum. The new museum will also be large enough to store items not currently on display.

The Mowry Irvine Mansion located on the historic Lincoln Highway is a house museum, showcasing the citizens that made the county what it is today, including art from local artists. This site is the home of our office and Frances Rhoades Williams Research Library.
